2019 OCR Humanitarian Award Finalists

The nominations for our OCR Humanitarian Award once again illustrated how many truly good individuals there are in the OCR community.  In fact, there were nominees who more than deserve to win a humanitarian award, but did not even make the finalist list solely because numerous other nominees are also doing great things off the course.

Jeff Cain, president of For Those Who Would, stated “Although I do not serve on the selection committee, I read all of the nominations that come in.  Doing so gives me a really warm feeling about the people who we race alongside with on the weekends.  There are so many good people in our sport, many of whom aren’t even nominated. One of the more interesting things about this year’s finalists is the diversity of their humanitarian acts.  The one common thread however, is that they all have hearts for helping others. I am looking forward to seeing who will actually win the award this year.  They are all worthy, but this is a very special award with only winner.

This years finalists are Carrie Greco Lukins, Steve McCollum, Joey McGlamory, and Sean Valigura.  The OCR community gets to vote on the finalists and the results of that vote are used in case there is a tie in the selection committee.  Read about each of the finalists and vote for your favorite through June 27 at 5:00 eastern. The winner will receive free lifetime Adventurey races and a special award sponsored by Mud Run Guide. All finalists will be honored at the 2019 North American OCR Championships in Stratton, Vermont on August 10-12.
